Chapter 5Blend arrays

5.7 Editing and standing down

The blend array panel for an existing array
Figure 5.7 The same panel once the array exists: Detach stands the rig down and keeps every machine where it is; Delete clones removes them.
  • Move one unit by hand and it stays where you put it, reported as off the array with a Re-apply offered. Hand trim survives until you ask for it not to.
  • Change the column, row or unit count to resize by the numbers. Survivors keep their offsets and nothing moves — and on a ring driven even, changing the count re-divides the sweep so the circle still closes.
  • Delete a unit, or drag one out of the rig’s folder, and if that would tear the grid you are asked once: stand the whole array down, or abandon the edit. It is one question because it is one decision.
  • Standing down keeps the folder. The blend group goes; the scene group holding the machines — which you may have renamed — stays.
